The Company
Neuro-Insight is a market research company that uses unique brain-imaging technology to measure how the brain responds to communications. We are the only company in the world licensed to use this patented technology, enabling us to measure second by second changes in brain activity. This allows us to deliver unique insights into how a piece of design or advertising is affecting people at both a rational and an emotional level.

and commercial
‘know how’
The technology used by Neuro-Insight known as Steady-State Topography (SST), records and measures electrical signals at the scalp in order to build a second by second picture of activity in the brain. It is essentially a refinement of EEG, widely used in hospitals throughout the world, and has been validated by research and used in clinical applications for over fifteen years.
The technology was first developed by Professor Richard Silberstein and his co-workers, Geoffrey Nield, David Simpson at the Swinburne University of Technology.
All of our activities are carried out in strict accordance with an ethical policy, set up to ensure that we always respect the privacy of respondents and that we operate only in areas in which we believe the use of brain imaging to be appropriate and ethical.
Neuro-Insight, based in Melbourne, Australia has been operating commercially as a market research company since 2005 and now has a strong global presence with operations in the US, UK, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Ethical Policy
We will always operate objectively, in accordance with established scientific principles, and will conform to the national and international legislation that applies in the countries in which we operate. We will always follow established market research industry codes of practice in those countries.
Specifically, we will always inform people clearly, fully and honestly about the technique that we are using, and obtain their explicit written consent to taking part prior to any study. After a study begins, respondents will always be made aware that they can end their involvement in the study and will be compensated accordingly.
In the research that we present, we will always deal with pooled data. We will never report on the brain data we obtain from individuals, or divulge this data to any third party.
We will not work on products or services which, when used as intended, demonstrably cause harm to people.
We will not work with children below the age where rational processing of persuasive techniques has been developed. Based on peer-reviewed research in neuroscience we have set the age limit at 14. We will work with those children aged 14 and above only when we have full and informed parental consent.
When we are working on shared studies and have unused capacity available we will, as a matter of policy, offer this capacity at no cost to charities, public service bodies and their agencies.
